MAKING A NEEDLEWORK CARPET

 

Elizabeth Bradley needlework carpets are made up from a varying number of central squares of needlework (each 16ins by 16ins) surrounded by a border. This page illustrates the Ribbon and Bow Border which are available in three colours (red, blue and green). This border is worked on unprinted canvas using a chart provided.

Kit A  - The Starter Kit

This is a basic kit which only needs to be purchased once, regardless of the number of carpets to be made.

The Starter Kit contains:
full size colour chart (10 squares to the inch).
Comprehensive carpet making instructions
A worked sample of joined canvas.
A wool card.
2 Needles
Hanks of wool to enable you to start joining your squares.

Victorian Cross Stitch
 

All Elizabeth Bradley kits are worked using this stitch which is pleasant and easy to do; covering the canvas well and producing thick hardwearing needlework with no distortion of shape. Ideal for making into cushions, covering chairs and stools or joining together to create decorative carpets or wall hangings.
